In 2011 Toddy joined Picture Farm Production as partner. Theretofore, Picture Farm had been primarily a photo production service company, producing commercial photo shoots around the world. His arrival would lead to a new vision for the company: building a production model from a “post-first” perspective. He introduced a way of looking at the talented photographers the company was already working with through the lens of a filmmaker and editor, finding plenty of room for evolution and a new kind of creative pipeline. This vision turned out to be incredibly successful as Picture Farm would build a platform based on turning photographer’s natural image making talents into story-telling ones, and offering creative directors and brand creative departments a partner that could create solutions that matched stills and motion form the outset. Of course now that model is well-worn. At the time, it felt revolutionary.
As PF’s executive creative director, supervising editor, “in-house” filmmaker and head of post production, he helped transform the Brooklyn-based production service business into an award winning international content production company. Picture Farm maintained offices in Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, Berlin and an art gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His remit included: creative partnerships, business development, marketing branding + design + communication, technical systems oversight, hiring & fostering talent, internships, gallery curation, post supervision and artist collaborations while managing multiple year/season/project partnerships with brands like Nike, ESPN & Fox Sports, Laura Mercier and West Elm. And, of course, shooting, editing writing and collaborating on specific shoots at the same time.
